The jurors will remain anonymous and partially sequestered throughout the trial. It will be followed by a second federal trial in Illinois on separate charges of child pornography and obstruction.

Gerald Griggs, Atlanta-based attorney who is representing several accusers and their families said, "They're understandably nervous but they've been focused on getting justice for a long time so they're ready. We're confident in the evidence and we're confident in the jury."

Defense attorney, Thomas Farinella said, "At this point, the public has only heard one side of the story in this case and that is about to change in the coming weeks. We look forward to the truth and the facts coming to light as the defense will continue to vigorously defend Mr. Kelly."

During the last pre-trial hearing, the disgraced singer had admitted to having had a sexual relationship with the late singer Aaliyah when she was underage.
